We got our hands on the new STP-23L sensor and our first impression was that it is literally dozens of times larger compared to the DS1 sensor! We then started putting it through its paces and the results were surprisingly good, we got a maximum distance of 7m compared to the usual 6m or so, which is also very stable.
But there's still bad news, the cost of these sensors in robotics is very high, which makes it hard to get the final price of the DS1-LONG sensor below $38, and it's likely that this will be one of the most expensive sensors we have at the moment.
We will continue to do some testing! But for now, we're excited!
