First of all a big thank you to the first batch of brave adventurers who participated in the release of our sensors ds1(https://docs.screek.io/ds1), we sincerely appreciate your adventurous spirit, we know the risks that testing a new product can mean.
From the first batch of feedback received, the main issues are:
- Feedback from u/Vmk49: the updates are too frequent, resulting in too much data flooding, especially 0.5 seconds after the update.
- Feedback from u/derobert1 on repeated measurement errors, there are errors (ranging in a few centimeters) in consecutive measurements at the same location.As well as enabling Improve via BLE makes it quicker and easier to utilize HA's Bluetooth for fast mating.
We will consider providing some options in the firmware in response to these issues, the options we are considering are:
- Provide an update minimum interval setting - Provide a setting to update as soon as the difference between two measurements reaches a certain level. - Provide three measurement modes: segment distance, medium distance, and long distance. They don't have the same maximum range of measurements, and the accuracy would seem to vary.
