After a few days of continued observation, we have noticed that the Near-IR value rises in daylight, while in the light at night the value is always close to 0. Unless activated with a special infrared light source, we can currently determine that there are:
- The signal when the IR remote control is transmitting.
- The IR light source when the camera is in night vision mode.
These findings led us to the discovery that one of the important features of the LS2 over the LS1 is that it helps to distinguish between indoor and outdoor light, and that automated judgement can be facilitated by whether or not NEAR-IR is greater than zero.
