Hi all, it's been a busy time lately, we've been actively testing the L12 as well as doing some interesting Zigbee experiments.
There have been some interesting discoveries while testing various Zigbee modules, including projects for the TLSR8253 processor, the most famous of which is the Xiaomi Thermo-Hygrometer 2 (LYWSD03MMC), which is very famous for its BLE custom firmware that makes this cheap little thermo-hygrometer very HA friendly. But the last few hardware versions of the LYWSD03MMC have made us find it more difficult to make our own, for example, the official firmware 2.0 restricts direct ota writes, and also for zigbee, the LYWSD03MMC doesn't have a reset button which is a bit of a dilemma. We tested other products with the same model number, including the Xiaomi Mijia MJWSD05MMC (based on the TLSR8250), and the Xiaomi Miaomiaoce (MHO-C401) in multiple versions (including an older ink screen technology).
All these various things above made us test a very large number of temperature and humidity sensors, and we found some interesting individual cases: CGDK2 Qingping Temp & RH Monitor Lite This sensor is quite unique:
- Uses a CR2430 battery, which has more power compared to the CR2032.
- The minimum temperature range supports -9.9~50°C, which allows you to measure relatively low temperatures.
- Comes with a back button, which makes it easy to reset the Zigbee (press and hold for more than 7 seconds).
All in all, during our testing with the addition of the Z2M, we found the data to be reliable and the power supply to be stable. Now we share some of these thermo-hygrometer sensors that we modified and tested for at least 24 hours.
We were surprised with its overall performance and it's a nice sensor with potential. Of course using homebrew firmware can be risky, but pvvx added nice ota features to these firmwares and will be able to update them in z2m in the future. We also hope to add some new features to it in the future, and the best thing about working on these is that we got these nice Zigbee chips - TLSR825x, which have satisfactory power consumption.
